6L80E years ??? Hi guys
I got an LY6 with no transmission and want to run it with his original tranny, ie, the 6L80E. The donor car was a Chevy 2500HD year 2008.
What years' range is compatible with this engine's PCM (E38) ???
All 6L80E came with T42 TCM inside?
Can I run a car's 6L80 by swapping the tail or came with different TCM or gear shiftter device?

2008 HD came with a 6L90E actually and it is a T43 TCM or as GM calls it a TEHCM. I will all depend on what engine controls you use. If you use the original e38 with somewhat production call it can work with the right tune in the transmission. It is not so difficult to make it work,
What year/model is the break point between 6l80 and 6L90s ??

E38 is only used for engine controls. The production engines using e38 had both 6l80e and 6l90e transmissions. All that matters is what is programmed into the transmission TCM (to be short). The transmission controller is inside the transmission. As far as using a 6l80e and that style T-case, u can do it, like I said previously, the transmission tune needs to match.
