Default Seating Torque Converter (read the sticky)

I am in the process of installing my Vigilante torque converter onto my 4l60e. I read the sticky on torque converter installation. I took measurements and there is 1 inch instead of the 1.125 inches that is recommended on the sticky. Am I not fully seated? I have pushed and pushed but I do not want to break the pump. Please help!!!

If you are truly 1" and not e.g. 7/8" you are probably OK.
Be careful bolting the bell housing to the engine; barely go finger tight (!) and check the gap between the converter and the flexplate. As long as there is some gap you are good.
Only once you are sure you have a gap there is it safe to tighten/torque the bell housing bolts.

Well, thank you for the reply. When I bolted the trans up there was 1/8 of space between the converter pads and the flex plate. Hopefully this all works out. I will know in about 5 hours.
