I am getting ready to do my tranny cooler set up, but I was wondering if you guys run your tranny fuild through the radiator then through the cooler (in that order)? or do you guy just go through the cooler?

Guys do it both ways and will argue for the benefits of each. I have mine through the radiator to the cooler, which is probably what the majority do.

Bump Bump Bump for some really good information....should be part of a sticky, IMHO. I'll add my little contribution to this ancient/dead thread:

Perma-Cool part #1004
Current price $98.00+shipping

I had to call Perma-Cool direct, as it seems NOBODY carries Perma-Cool products in my area....nor do Summit or Jegs....at least not this part number.

I think the owner of Perma-Cool sold the business and then it went under. I heard that he then got the business back and they are now back in business. If you hunt around, you can still find a couple places that sell them. I bought this trans cooler about a month ago from Cyberspace Automotive. It was really tough to find. Expect them to be back on the shelves soon.

I think Derale makes one similar to this, but it is aluminum and brass. I like the all-aluminum Perma-Cool units because there is no copper to rot.

BTW, I like that cooler design on the F-body more than anything else I've seen. Mounting is simple and effective, and it has great airflow.

the only benefit of running it through the radiator first is it warming the trans fluid for cold climate areas. But with a stall it will heat it up plenty on its own. I personally run it straight through the cooler and back. Easy and straight forward and no problems for 5+yrs of owning the car.

I ended up getting a Jegs# 259-13224, which is a Derale cooler. Cost was $31.99 plus shipping. I mounted it to the lower core support that the air dam bolts to, using the brackets that are made onto this cooler. All I had to get was 2 bolts, nuts, and 4 washers to complete the install.

I mounted my perma-cool frame rail cooler slightly above the air dam mounting bolts.

Per my post back then, I was surprised to see this one come back up 7 years ago! Not sure why Dave felt the need to bump it back up. But since I'm still running this setup, and it's not a well-known option, I think the thread still deserves to live.
