Default 4l80 temps

What temps are you guys seeing with a stall? I think I need a bigger cooler . Brand new gmpp 4l85e. Stall is a circle d 3200 stall 258 mm temps reach 200 cruising around or traffic .once I hit hyway speeds it cools down I have a b&m super cooler its 6x11x1.5 . I even added a small fan. Directions said something about a cooler needing to flow 2 qt in 30 seconds . I can't find flow numbers for cooler what size cooler is everybody running?

I had the same issue with my north texas converter 4l80 with 3000 stall. In town it would creep up to 220 and i's be searching for a place to get moving fast enough to lock the converter. That was with a big plate cooler. I switched to a tru-cool 40,000gvw rv cooler and it doesn't go over 150 no matter what I do to it now. It's a big cooler but it mounted in front of my rad and is working perfectly. If it was an all season car it would need a thermostat or it would overcool.

That cooler is huge! I've been reading and I guess 175 is the perfect temp for a 4l80 according to gear star. they recommend a 30 k cooler. I think I'm going to take your advice and get the tru-cool

Yeah it's a bit large lol. I figured I'd already gone through 2 other cooler setups so I wanted to do it right this time! Nice to never have to even think about trans temp again.
