4l70e into LS1 1998 Please help! Longtime lurker and first post.
I made the mistake of swapping my 4l60e for a 4l70e and I'm having problems with it engaging. I was going off of another forum where they all claimed them to be interchangeable but now I'm reading otherwise but can't pinpoint what I need to change out.
I thought the shafts were the same (?) and that the torque converters were as well.
I'm at a total loss and would appreciate some knowledge thrown my way!

A 4L70E should connect to a '98 LS1 engine and PCM perfectly.
All "LS style" 4L60E and all 4L65E/4L70E have compatible input shafts and torque converters.
Did you measure the bell housing "plane" to converter pad distance at more than 1" to ensure the converter is fully installed?
What was the converter pad to flexplate gap?
