Help with a problem many would love to have!
04 C5 Corvette with new PerformaBuilt Level 2 trans and Circle D 2400 stall converter - both newly installed. The car dynoed at 412 rwhp and 384 lb ft torque in August 2015 with stock torque converter. Everything works flawlessly and I'm excited about this car. Problem is wheel spin. With stock 273 rear gears the rear wheels spin on launch and the rear end swings out making it hard to keep it straight. It's unnerving and I have to let off the pedal to maintain control. I know wider, stickier tires are the best solution but this is a street car and I'd rather not go that route. I'd like to hear what others would do to keep things under control.
For fun the street or the track you really need proper tires; let me recommend Nitto NT05R which I find have very good traction at the drag strip (although not as good as MT ET), but unlike the MT have excellent cornering and straight line stability.
(I run my MT only the strip and the NT05R on the street.)
And/or dual adjustable shocks.

On the street I would expect 8000-10,000 miles out of the Nitto NT555R or NT05R, which is more than double that of the MT ET.
Not sure what I got because drag strip runs wear out tires quickly.
My Gen-2 is setup for road course racing with stiff lowered springs, stiff shocks and big sway bars, making it hard to hook at the track. Even with that setup, the NT05R would hook "sometimes" (from idle) for 1.75s 60ft times. The MT ET would "often" hook for 1.65s 60ft times.
I'm switching this winter to a DSE rear suspension with coil-overs and dual adjustable shocks. Hopefully that will improve weight transfer at the track with the correct shock settings.

Unit what did you ever decide for tires?
I have C5 ZO6 Rims with 275/40s front 305/35s rear
Toyo R888 hook really well and should last 6-10K
Miles depending how driven and taken care of.
