Default Transmission Recommendations

I need some help guys. What transmission do I use? Please educate me on experiences and details this is my first LS build.
I've heard everything from a 4L60E, TH400 and 4L80E but i'm still torn on which to use for my build. I am putting together an NA 6.0 LQ4. It has a mild cam that was recommended by Lonnie from TSP 224/224, .600"/.600",114LSA, 110 ICL, I also ordered chromemoly pushrods, Beehive Valve Springs etc. This is not going to be an erratic build but mild build that is easily streetable. I will not be competing heavy but I will every once in a while what I am looking for is RELIABILITY. All comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated and needed. This is all going in my first car that i've had since i was 16 my 1986 Monte Carlo SS. Thanks guys.

A well built 4L60E will fit your needs.

I agree with clinebarger, the 4l60e will be a good choice. Venders here can set you up with a trans that will serve well.

There is a vendor Directory in the ribbon at the top of the page. Select that and then choose transmission category and you have them. A couple that come to mind are shown below. Both companies have good reputations for quality products.

I'm in Ohio, but I'm not familiar with any builders here. Most vendors will ship the transmission directly to you if you're doing the work yourself or to a shop that you choose to do the work. Any shop can replace a transmission, it doesn't have to be an transmission shop. Performabuilt is in PA and does not require a core. They have a great warranty are really good to work with. You can take your trans to RPM and exchange it for one that's been rebuilt. It's an easy in and out. The most important thing is that you're getting a transmission from a builder that specializes in performance transmissions and you know you're getting a quality product.

Like previously stated in this thread a well built 4L60e will do everything you need it to do. We would be happy to build you a good, reliable transmission for your car. We are only 2.5 hours from Louisville Kentucky. You could drive up and pick it up or we can ship one down to you for $120.00.

We would be happy to talk with you about a good transmission build for your car too. We aren't too far away. It looks like we are about 4.5 hours from you. We can ship to northwest Ohio for $120.00 if you didn't want to make the drive.
