4l80e Yoke options
Hi Peeps.
Im after some advice/recommendations.
i am putting an LQ4 with a 4l80e into a GMT400 (2wd) but I am not sure what to do with regards to the Yoke.
I tried to fit the yoke i have but it doesn't seem to go in very far. so i removed the extension housing to take a look as i discovered there is different tail shafts.
Apparently the yoke i have is a slip yoke for 1410 UJ's
But it wont go in very far. (it bounces for the lack of a better term, doesnt go clunk as if it were hitting something)
The output shaft is splined all the way by the looks of it.
My question is:
Can i make this yoke work? or do i need to find a Fixed bolt on yoke? (may be difficult here in the UK)
I have no preference at the moment because i currently have no drive shaft, so i can incorporate a slip joint into the shaft when i have that made.
Thanks,

I had a similar issue with my 4l80 that we put in my trans am. Mine is a older 4l80e so mine didn't have the piece that's sticking out on your tail shaft. My issue was resolved by pulling a O ring off the tail shaft. From what I found as your finding out is there was like 3 or so different yokes for the 4l80e. I'm guessing from the looks of the pics your yoke is hitting the piece on the tail shaft and not sliding inside the piece. Maybe a different yoke would solve that or find the yoke for the model 4l80e you have. I went threw quite a few yokes before getting mine correct. Hopefully a more knowledgeable trans guy can help you on this. Also whoever you get a driveshaft from might have the correct yoke for you.

that looks about right to me. should have about 12mm of spline showing with the tail housing on. slide the yoke in, and measure how much sealing surface shows. should be around 25mm or so.
a lot of the big GM trucks ive seen have that 1410 style u joint, and a slip yoke in the trans AND a 2 piece driveshaft (carrier bearing and rear slip-joint)
in fact I just cut one up to make my driveshaft
