TH400 as the search term. works a whole lot better than any of the responses you'd get in this post. I've seen it done for anywhere from $1000 to $3500+ all depending on what you want as options, what converter, what shifter, if you want your speedo to work with the stock speedo or not. I'm gonna be doing the same soon as well.

I just went from a 4L60E to a TH-400. I traded my "built" 4l60E for a "built' TH-400. A 400 will run anywhere from $1,200.00 to about $1,800.00. You will also need a shifter of some sort, i went with a B&M Pro Ratchet shifter, it was about $180.00. You will need a different crossmember, I went with a modified BMR it was $150.00. You need a dipstick tube, Lokar $75.00. SFI flexplate $189.00, TH-400 converter was a PI 4000 $750.00. Custom made for correct length Inland steele driveshaft $250.00. If you want to have a working speedo that's about $150.00 more. I think that about covered it.

I bought a package deal from Brian @ Madman & Co. Racing. It consisted of:
TH400 (reverse manual with transbrake)
9 inch stall converter (you choose what stall) Mine stalls at around 4300 rpm.
Ultra Bellhousing (SFI Approved)
B&M Tranny cooler with AeroQuip fittings (28K GVW)
Braided tranny lines
Nitrous Prepped Driveshaft-Aluminium
M6 Crossmember (Not needed if you have an M6)
Locking Dipstick

In addition I had to purchase:
(1) case of B&M Trick Shift ATF Fluid
TH400 Tranny mount/30 washers to shim the tranny mount
TCI Flexplate (SFI Approved)
10 gauge wire for the tranzbrake button
An A3 Shifter (I used a Cheetah SCS Gated Shifter)
Spohn Torque Arm w/drive shaft loops (you no longer have a torque arm mount with a TH400)
ARP Flexplate/Flywheel bolts---Jegs has them, and I highly recommend them.
Autometer Tranny Temp Gauge

Plan on spending $3500-$4000 if you want to do it right.
