99 4l60E in a 95?

Can I swap a '99 4L60E in to a '95 OBD1?

I think I've discovered that I need to change the tail housing so I can swap my VSS and change the TCC Solenoid. Is that all need to do? Is it otherwise straight up?

Thanks for any input!

No, The Valve Body & Separator Plate will need to be swapped. And the '99 trans will have to be a 298mm version.

Contrary to popular belief.....'95 Passenger cars got TCC PWM Solenoids, '95 Truck Platforms did not.

Retain the '96 & up VSS Sensor, Change the Connector. Coolant Temp Sensors use the same connector, New Pigtails are easily available. The old style VSS Sensors leak. Besides a '99 4L60E has a 6-bolt tailhousing that cannot be swapped with a 4-bolt '95 tailhousing anyway.

Maybe I should just have the '95 rebuilt? Again...

It was flooded in the recent floods here with a fairly fresh rebuild on it. My Tahoe had NO appreciation for the high water and it hardly got 1/2 the water. The transmission only lasted in it for ~2000 miles.

Since it's a piece of crap work van (G30), I don't want to spend much $'s on it, but it needs to go reliably.

By the time I have it pulled and obtain a decent replacement, I don't think I'll be too far off of a fresh rebuild, will I?

Thanks!

I heard you guys got it pretty bad down there..... I would have it rebuilt, Water Delaminates Frictions.

Yeah.

After the Tahoe Transmission only lasted ~2k miles, I didn't bother to start the van. I have a '99 transmission located from another member here, but now it seems like I should just have it rebuilt. The TCC Solenoid is $35 on RockAuto....

Plus, all the swapping stuff around doesn't get done for free. And I'm not doing it.

Thanks,

-Kyle

Houston drains about as well as a bowl full of water.
