Default 700r4 corvette servo

he guys, im new here, and please dont rip me for not doing a search. i tried, but it wont let me type anything into the search line. lol anyway, its probably an easy answered question to a trans guy. i bought my 91 chevy and it has a built 355 and a 700r4. drove it since febuary and all of a sudden it starts making a weird noise and the trans stopped doing anything. front pump drive is ate off and gone. every bushing in trans is toast, and one or 2 parts that rode on bushing is wore. i picked up another 700r4 used. it has no shift kit or anything. my bad one has all of that, and the corvette servo.

my question is, will i benefit from cleaning the servo up(no wear on it by the way) and swaping it into the other trans now before i get all these other parts for it?

i do have a list of trans go parts i plan to order like unbreakable rings, sk700jr shift/correction kit, tv boost valve, 3-4 shift valve, and a govenor calibration/tuning kit.

also, the pump in the trans i bought used is a 7 vane, can i buy just the 10 vane rotor and parts and put in my pump?

any help or info would be great guys. thanks.

I don't think theres a huge benefit by swapping the servo now. But it won't hurt either, especially if it's an easy swap (in the vehicle).

The pump will swap right over. Check the rotor to pump body clearance.

If you have a 7 vane pump then you have a 1984 or earlier unit most likely. The only thing easily changeable here is the Corvette servo, unless you know these transmissions. You need to make sure of what year you have here before you start to make changes, The 1991 had major changes over the early units. The year is on the passenger side of the transmission all the way to the back just above the pan. The first digit is the year.

it is an 85. out of an 85 1/2t c10. i read that 85 have 7 vane pump? i may be wrong there tho. i just put new seals, filter and pan gasket in it and new converter and threw it in. now i have trans fluid coming out around converter somewhere. so i assume the pump gasket and oring is out. will be pulling it tomorrow. anyone know the part numbers from pioneer at oreilly auto for that gasket and the oring for pump housing and the orings for the bolts? i have yet to put any parts into it. i think im going to order transgo kit and boost valve and the unbreakable rings and put all that in there eventually. thanks for the help guys.

oh, and the yoke from the 91 is different than the 85 truck! had to change it because the yoke in my 91 would not slide in far enough. just an fyi if anyone ever stumbles across this looking for that info.
