Default Trans Problem

Hello all,

I have a 08 Chevy Silverado 5.3 with 97000 miles and the transmission goes into reverse just fine but when you put into any other gear will not move. Whats weird is I was driving when this happened. Left stop light just fine and then just slipped. Trans fluid is full but a little dark and no code. any help would be appreciated.

In detail, if you can start in 1st and then manually shift to 2nd, 3rd and 4th when an appropriate speed is reached, that is a sure indication that your forward sprag failed.
Your trans is most likely going to have to come out, but this info will help the rebuilder know what to look for. Also, if the sprag shredded metal, the converter likely needs to be replaced or at least sent to a specialty shop for opening, cleaning and re-welding.
