PTC talked me into a 3200 for 00 SS
As the comments in post #19,I go back to the 60s' when 'musclecars' had huge amounts of torque at the lower end and not as much horsepower as we have now. Aftermarket convertors were terribly loose and inefficient. Now they can make them tight for everyday driving but still be able to 'flash stall' to their rating with the go pedal.
I had the same experience with ptc. Can't remember who I spoke with but they recommended a 3200 for my bolt on 100 shot ls1 camaro dd. I stuck with my guns and ended up with a 3800 stall. I understand their decision being it was my first stalled vehicle but I could not be happier
