As the comments in post #19,I go back to the 60s' when 'musclecars' had huge amounts of torque at the lower end and not as much horsepower as we have now. Aftermarket convertors were terribly loose and inefficient. Now they can make them tight for everyday driving but still be able to 'flash stall' to their rating with the go pedal.

ptc has taken great care of me, my 02 comaro ss makes 1064 wheel on olny 19.8 lbs boost. car flys. those number are though a unloacked converter with a th400 trans and a 9 inch

The lowest you should go is 3600. 3800-4200 is fine. Been there done that as long as its a lock up.
3200 is a waste of time and money.

I had the same experience with ptc. Can't remember who I spoke with but they recommended a 3200 for my bolt on 100 shot ls1 camaro dd. I stuck with my guns and ended up with a 3800 stall. I understand their decision being it was my first stalled vehicle but I could not be happier

Yep, I talked to 3 different people from PTC... Tim Owens multiple times and all three of them steered me the same direction because it was my first stall. Great bunch of guys and very helpful though.
