Default Which transmission would you choose?

I've got a 1996 rcsb s10 with an ls1, 243 heads, MS3 on a 112, 42lb injectors, trunion upgraded rockers, Vic jr, 4150tb, built 4l60, yank ss4000, 31 spline 8.8 with 3.73 gears, relocated the fuel tank to the rear using a Camaro plastic tank and home built caltrac bars. The truck weights around 2900lbs as is.

My question is when this transmission goes what should I replace it with? I will live with a more race oriented transmission and have no issues swapping the 3.73s for something else. Right now I'm running a 295 50 16 MT ET street but will be replacing them soon. I also already have a B&M stealth pro ratchet shifter so a rmbv would also be fine. I'm leaning toward TH400 but a TH350 could survive as well. The only future upgrades would be to send the 243s to AI, Morel link bars and the vic jr to get a puck for a 150 shot.

So...what options do you suggest and why?

The350 is for dedicated race cars with low torque

TH400 is for "" with more torque (and gives you more drivetrain loss)

If you actually want to drive on the street/highway you need a lockup converter with a trans to control it.

Go th400 or stick with the 4L60 with at your weight I don't see why it wouldn't last, a lot of corvette guys making big power still use built 4L60s..

Dunno if I'd go the 350 or 400 route anymore. I've read across different forums that its becoming harder to source parts for rebuilds on these, leading to longer delays getting them back up and running. Personally, I'd drop a slightly modified 4l80e in it and forget about it until my horsepower rated further strengthening.

4l60e, no question. A properly built unit, tuned and serviced right would last a long long time.

So just rebuild the 4l60 when it goes? I can live with that. It already has the TCI deep aluminum pan, beast sunshell and red alto bands. Thanks for the thoughts.
