Last weekend my brother neutral dropped my car into drive. Car did a burnout, and drove home. When i got in it later, I found it will only rev to the stall speed (in this case, 2160rpm) in park, neutral, etc.

I read that the cause could be a broken stator wheel in the converter so I ordered a new one.

Drove the car to the shop today, shifts through all 3 gears fine. (Short 2 mile drive). Reverse is gone though. It revved but didnt move in reverse.

Could that be from the converter too, or did something else likely break?

 

This is not torque converter problem with no reverse. The motor only revving to 2,160 rpm in neutral is that there is something binding internally in the transmission. The neutral drop (if dropped into low gear) could have broken the rear band, and that will give you a no reverse condition.
