1998 firebird slow to shift
Hi I have a 1998 firebird v6 automatic and when I go from park to reverse out of my drive way it's fine but when I go from reverse to drive it takes like 5 seconds to actually go in drive for me to actually be able to drive away. Any one have the same problem and know what it is?
My money is on a slipping input sprag.
If he has enough line pressure, and volume, to engage reverse without issues, then he should have more than enough volume, and pressure, to engage the forward clutches.

If you can immediately move forward in D1 but not in OD, then you do likely have a bad forward (input) sprag. This would require a rebuild an perhaps even converter replacement if the sprag is sheared.
Another possibility is a cracked forward accumulator piston in the valve body which would be relatively easy to fix.

It's weird park to OD works decnt just jerks a bit. But 1D to OD, 2D to OD, and 3D to OD work perfectly fine. Just reverse to OD

That indicates your forward clutch isn't engaging quickly, but once engaged, stays engaged.
Therefore I suspect a leak in the forward clutch circuit. The plastic piston in the forward clutch accumulator is known to crack, or else the bore might be worn.
I suggest replacing with the Sonnax pinless forward accumulator piston (about $13):

(Note that it mentions "delayed engagement".)
IIRC this can be replaced without removing the valve body, e.g. you only need to drop the pan.
If this doesn't cure it you have an internal leak which would require a removal and rebuild.
