Performabuilt black edition specs Our Black Edition series is our newest Extreme offering in the 4L60 transmissions series. It’s available in the 700R4, 4L60E for LT-1, 4L60E for LS1 / LSX and 4L65E.
It features all the components of our Level 3 transmission ( http://performabuilt.com/level-3.html ) with these upgrades for added Strength and Durability. (Nothing but the best):
OEM five (5) pinion planetary with a grooved sun gear for improved lubrication
Sonnax Smart Drum This is an amazing improvement of the input drum assembly on these units. Click name at start of this sentence for details information.
Molded seal steel pistons
Raybestos composite forward frictions.
A set of 9 carbon composite clutches with new Raybestos steels for High Impact Durability and Super Hold on the 2-3 shift. Again to get greater details click link above.
Borg Warner 29 element dual cage sprag assembly, the strongest available
The SONNAX SMART SHELL to eliminate stripping of the splines and breakage comon in the factory sun shell cause no reverse/second/fourth gears. This piece in balanced to lower drive train vibration.
New Sonnax Billet Steel Input and output shafts!
Available in 2wd and 4x4 or AWD.
New OEM reverse Input drum to accommodate the ultra-wide carbon band.
Ultra wide carbon composite 2-4 performance band with reinforced pin area to prevent tear through. This band will take the abuse and the heat.
The SONNAX billet second gear servo for maximum second gear hold (It also limits 3rd gear 3-4 clutch accumulation to aid in the 3-4 clutch apply)
Sonnax Dual Piston Overdrive Servo (with the wide band to stand WOT overdrive if your PCM is set up to allow it) Anodized red with PerformaBuilt logo laser etched.
A Thirteen (13) vane pump with hardened rings and a full-time lube modification which assures maximum planetary life and cooling. Max line set at approximately 220 psi .
PerformaBuilt custom shift kit, a compilation of what we consider to be the best of several known kits and some unique modifications of our own.Also included in this unit is the Sonnax heavy duty 2-3 shift valve. This valve keeps the overrun clutch on in all gears when selector is in 1-2-3 positions to add support the the Input sprag assembly .
In addition we have proprietary mods to quicken 2-3 shift times ,
Deep Chrome Pan or Optional cast aluminum pan (Additional charge for cast aluminum pan) There you have it, The Strongest 4L6X and 700R4 available anywhere and we guarantee it at over 1000 rwhp.
This unit also features many other proprietary modifications for performance and durability which help it achieve its unbelievable horsepower capabilities. It will take whatever you dish out and we guarantee it. You won't find a better unit anywhere.

Might have to try this one day. I ran your level 2 for 3-4 years in a full weight Trans Am that made 430 unlocked. Never had a problem with it only pulled it to put driveline in my old mans car. Currently running your level 3,, car made 500 unlocked and ran a best of 10.7@125 at 3800+ race weight. Converter showed 15% slip on the dyno and 12% slip through the traps at the track. Once converter is straitened out the plan is to spray it deep into single digits.

While not listed, I'm sure the Sonnax close-ratio billet front planetary would be an option.
This gives you 2.84 and 1.55 1st and 2nd gears instead of the stock 3.06 and 1.63.

While not listed, I'm sure the Sonnax close-ratio billet front planetary would be an option.
This gives you 2.84 and 1.55 1st and 2nd gears instead of the stock 3.06 and 1.63.
