4l80e rebuild
I have a 4l80 that I want to rebuild to support 800+ hp this will be my first time attempting this. I found the 4l80 rebuild procedures book. Any tips and suggestions?

I watched a professional do mine and paid a small fee for his time. After seeing what is involved I am glad I didn't attempt it myself. Sure if you want to save some money, deal with the frustrations of not having the correct tools and risk screwing something up then go for it. I suppose if I was planning to do more than one I would have invested in the specialty tools and the time needed to learn how to do it the "right way". Just my 2 cents.

Read the book 5 times, each time you will see something you missed-they give you the tools needed, but as I said the 4th clutch tool is most needed.
A lot of basic mechanics tools will get thru the rest, snap ring pliers, bushing drivers, etc.
there are a couple other books out besides the ATSG book.
If you want to try it, dedicate a bench where you can lay the parts out just like they came out of the trans, observe each thrust washer and where it came from, etc. Before even starting disassembly, ck input/output with a dial gauge, see how much movement.
Scan Ebay, you can score 80E tools, but stick to the Kent Moore ones
