2006 4L80E Converter in a '97
So, I'm working on putting together a fun little mini-truck and have got a 5.3 and a 4L80 for it.
I have a 2006 4L80E lying around waiting to be used, but it's a 4WD, and I already have plans for it.
I managed to pick up a '96 or '97 4L80 which is just new enough that it should work with the LS computer, but unfortunately, the 454 it came off of was completely locked up, and I could not get the torque converter out. The 454's also use a lower stall converter from what I've read, so given the fact that all I've got is the '06 converter, which is a higher stall, I hope to use that.
I have read online that there are some converter differences between the years of 4L80, but I'm hoping somebody can tell me for sure if I'll be able to use the converter out of my '06 4L80 in the '97, or if I'll need to pick up an older converter?
