Default 4l80 in a 73' (speedo conversion?)

Can someone steer me in the right direction. I've done a search.... and so far no luck.
I have a 4l80 in a 73' pick up, and I'd really like to get the speedo to work, without changing the whole cluster?
I heard of some type of electronic adapter that can be added behind the speedometer, and something plugged into the wires on the tranny, and it would work??

Any advise/direction would be much appreciated.

I think you need to change the rear housing and maybe the tailshaft for gear driven speedo.

If you need a square wave signal like 4000ppm or similar you can use the Dakota Digital SGI-5E. It'll convert the VSS sinewave signal to be compatible. Look at the instructions for application #3 http://www.dakotadigital.com/pdf/650528a_SGI-5E.pdf

You can spend $300 or so bucks for a Dakota Digital or Cable-x box with questionable reliabilty or $30 at the local PYP for a C-10 electric speedo, your choice...
