99 to 03 I have a 03 tahoe with a 5.3 and 4l60e I am looking to put a new tranny in it. I found a 4l60e out of a 99 sierra with a 5.3. I have been searching for the past few hours for a definitive answer as to if I can use the 99 in my 03 without any changes or not. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

As long as it's a 2wd 4l60e going into a 2wd truck or 4wd going into a 4wd truck it will be a direct swap.
Converting a 4wd 4l60e to a 2wd 4l60e would require a output shaft and tail shaft swap.
Converting a 4wd 4l60e to a 2wd 4l60e would require a output shaft and tail shaft swap.

1998 to 2007/2008 4l60e/4l65e are compatible. Some internal changes on the later years but nothing that would hinder say putting a 2006 or what not in there. Unplug round harness, out with junk tranny, in with new, plug in harness and go.
