Haven't gotten much to the inside of the car yet but the engine is at the machine shop and I should go ahead and get the inside of the car done. Anybody have a picture or 2 of how the shifter mounts and what it has for a boot? Or is there no boot and I have to make one? I did a swap with a fellow, got just about everything I need I think. I just don't have the bolt holes in the car to mount it from the factory in there. Thanks!
I used a stock camaro shifter, camaro cable, camaro bracket, and camaro shift ball (cable snap on bracket) all from a 4l60e car on my 4l80e trans. It was a custom chassis install (240sx) but the main thing is getting the trans close enough to the shifter so the cable will work, the rest fits nice. You will need to elongate the bracket holes a little so it will bolt to the 4l80e pan.
For the cover, I made a little thin piece of aluminum to cover the hole. I still need to make another one to finish it, but I am not ready to button it up just yet. Probably going to use something sticky and thick, like a dynamat or some kind of undercoat spray. Not sure yet but the main thing is, seal it up to keep the heat out and A/C in.

also attached a pic of the elongated holes for the camaro bracket to fit the 4l80e pan. Went a little overboard with it, you can probably take off a bit less than that.

just cover hole with aluminum, the lower bolt hole that the shifter goes into is actually there in a t56 car so you can bolt it down to that and then make a mount from shifter to plate for upper bolts. I actually had a friend who drove a couple years on a auto shifter on a t56 car with just the one bolt in place.
