4l60e reverse puzzle
Hi folks, newbie here! Looks like the place to be for tranny issues for sure!!
The transmission in my '95 1/2 ton pickup (4x4) is very slow to engage reverse, but will do so (kind of) if I rev it up to the 2500-3000 rpm range...or if I wait maybe a minute or so. When it does engage it seems solid enough and I can accelerate in reverse.
Sticking booster valve in the pump? I'm hoping...otherwise....
Had the pan off and no gunk to speak of...maybe a tablespoon full.
I'd be mighty grateful for any direction. Oh, nearest GM dealer is about 250 air miles away and the nearest transmission shop is about 1500 air miles away.

The only way to know if it's pressure related is to install a pressure gauge & see if you have reverse pressure boost.
Hardened lo/reverse piston seals will cause a slow reverse apply especially cold, Check the 3 8mm headed bolts under the 2 shift solenoids for being loose.

Thanks clinebarger...I don't have a pressure guage, unfortunately, but I'll certainly check those bolts. I have a suspicion I'm looking at removing and rebuilding it!
Would you recommend removing the low reverse check ball?
I have a collection of new parts I oughta post to see if what I have will actually work together!!
Thanks again.
