Default 4L60E shifter upgrade

I have a 2000 firebird with a 4l60e I removed the center console and wanted to switch to a B&M shifter possibly. I was wonder if anyone knew what was involved in rewiring what I can only assume is the reverse and neutral sensors on the side of the auto shifter. Would there be anything I might be missing to do this change. If anyone has done it could they give me a few pointers. Thank you in advance.

Wouldn't your existing nut/rev switch stay in place or does that have to get removed for the shifter's mounting hardware?
I would think it could remain there.

It appears that the device slides along with gear shifter. I don't know if it relays more info then rev and neu there are about 5-6 wires coming out of it on the shifter.
