4l60e Rebuild or Change pump?
My question now is it worth just replacing the pump and leaving it alone or just overhaul it? everything else is fine with the unit besides a little clunk when braking first gear to 0 but I assumed the guy who rebuilt it forgot to install the anti clunk clip.
paid 1k for the rebuild a few years back. By "pump O-ring" (I think) he is referring to the small o-rings on the 7 bolts that hold the pump to the case. While you would need to remove the trans for this, replacing the front seal, those o-rings and the o-ring on the input shaft will likely solve your leak.
You could remove each of the 7 bolts one at a time, replace the o-ring and torque it back to 18 ft/lbs.
I have heard of a worn front pump bushing causing a new seal to quickly fail again, but replacing that bushing means removing the pump which starts a slippery slope toward at least a partial rebuild.
