Turbo 350 over torqued pan
I just bought a rebuilt Th350C transmission for my 74 camaro project. Looked solid but under closer inspection I noticed where the pan bolt exits through the transmission case is fractured around the end of the bolt. 2 or 3 small fractures from what I can only guess was from over torqueing the pan bolts.
Any idea what the prognosis is on this? Possible it wont leak or are we dealing with a certainty here that it will leak?
cant catch a break. The original transmission I was replacing worked great but had a leak. When I pulled that one apart it had a broken bolt hole inside the pump housing. That one wasnt fixable. Hoping this on is
thanks

If it will hold the apx. 70 - 80 inch pounds of torque, then you are ok. Make sure that the bolts are metric and not SAE, as this can ruin the case and cause the splits in the case you see here. Also make sure the threads of the bolt are not damaged. Replace damaged bolts or use a die "thread chaser" to clean up the threads of the bolt.
appreciate the help. So all the bolts were pretty loose. Probably closer to 60. I didnt want to to take the bolt out so I gently torqued her up. No movement on the cracks and no slippage on the bolts resistance.
My wrench is in FT so i went a hair under 7ft/lbs. So far so good. Wont know till I put her in and drive her around.
