4L65 Valve Body in 4L70
I have a 4L70 out my 2012 5.3 Colorado that I swapped a T56 into that I am wanting to put into my mom's 2005 Silverado. Her 4L60 is beginning to slip badly so I just need a stock transmission as it isn't abuse (just has a lot of miles and did a lot of towing in its younger days). It is a bone stock truck and she only uses it to commute to work and the occasional hauling of furniture which is why I don't need any kind of performance upgrade such as a 4L80 etc. I know that the 2012 4L70s don't have the 3-2 solenoid and have a different plug for the internal wiring harness.
My question is this:
Can I swap the valve body and internal wiring harness out of a 4L65 that was in my 2005 GTO to make this transmission work for her truck? From what little info I could find I think this will work but I want to know before I drive 5 hours to her house to do the swap and I don't want to leave her truck inoperable if it doesn't.
PS I don't want to just swap the 4L65 into it because it too was starting to slip pretty bad when I replaced it with a built unit.
Any insight you guys could give me would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Based on my experience of retrofitting a 2010 4L70E with a 2005 VB, I will say yes, although you will also need an older style harness and separator plate too.
Just get a Transgo 46-PLT-96 and drill to the instructions for a V8 and the 3rd feed hole to .093.
Hopefully I'm not missing anything else.

You will also need the gaskets for the plate; I've seen the plate with gaskets for $25.
