4L60E no overdrive
I have a 4L60E transmission in a 98 Z71 pick up. The problem is that when I am riding down the road, it shifts 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, then the engine revs and wont shift into overdrive... is there a simple fix for this or do I need to rebuild the entire transmission?
Thank you!!!
Thank you!!!

This sounds like a worn band; usually people lose 2nd before 4th, but I've read several threads where the OP first lost 4th gear.
You can easily check for a worn band by pressing on the servo cover of the trans with a crowbar and estimating (with a ruler next to it) how far the cover moves in. This is the servo end play. Spec is .075" to .125" (1/16" to 1/8"). Around .175 you may start to experience slippage in 2nd or 4th gear and around .200 you will lose 2nd or 4th gear.
Get back to us with that measurement and we will go from there.

4p60e tran
my problem is that the Tran will shift all gears a little harsh but will not go into OD but after driving it for 6 miles and shutting it off and starting back up it will go into OD but have check engine light.

I know that brand new members cannot start a new thread and you therefore picked at least a relevant one. In the future, just start a new thread.
The OBVIOUS next step is to get a code scan which will tell us what the problem is. The harsh shifts indicate the PCM is commanding high line pressure which sometimes happens due to a TPS or MAF problem. Sensor problems and/or codes can also block the PCM from commanding OD.
