Advice on 6l80 Rebuild

Advice on 6l80 Rebuild I rebuilt/upgraded my valve body with sonnax zip kit several months ago and it brought some life back to my tranny 6l80 but now it's acting up again and I am ready to pull it and have it rebuilt (like I started last night and only thing holding it in are the bell housing bolts).
So this is in my Avalanche 5.3 with a cam and longtubes 4x4. Looking for input on what should be done and if anyone around Mid Missouri knows of someone that they recommend for the rebuild would be awesome. Currently I have a guy about 2 hours away from me that quoted me 1500 if I bring the tranny. He would do basic rebuild plus pump and torque converter and one of the drums that is prone to issues in his experience.
I've ready about CTS-V/ZL1 torque converter swaps. Price difference if I'm doing all of this anyway is minimal. Is this a good idea in a truck like this that is used for hauling and pulling with some frequency?
Does the price for what I'm getting sound reasonable? Or does a member here have a recommendation for someone closeish to Jeff City, MO? I'm a bit tempted to do it myself but would prefer on this particular job to at least have someone that's got some experience to help/just let me watch them. Any other parts in there that I should upgrade while I'm in there (note this is not a drag car and I don't have a 10k transmission budget
