Reverse input drum hits the input drum
I've worked on quite a few of these 700's to 4L60E's. This is a first.
It's a 2003 core, it has a 68 washer and a new bearing on the input drum.
It has new bushings in the reverse drum. The rear drum bushing is just below flush and that seems to be the problem.
I've never had this problem so I never looked while installed, I'm waiting on pump vane rings and I put the sealing rings on the stator so I don't want to test fit it in the case because (another first) the stator sealing rings for the reverse drum seem to catch the inner side of the bushing upon disassembly.
I seem to remember when dropping the forward and reverse drum assemblies in place, the rev drum lifts off of the bearing (moves away from the input drum) when seated so that would eliminate this problem.
So am I worrying about nothing?
Through the holidays and waiting on parts I have nothing better to do than look for problems.

IIRC the reverse drum doesn’t contact the thrust bearing on the input drum. The thrust washer on the pump and the notches on sun shell is all that hold the reverse drum in position front to back. The thrust bearing on the input drum rides on the end of the stator support.

I think the problem is I drove the bushing below flush. I had a feeling it would be ok once installed. I've had it together without the rev drum to set the endplay. The rev drum teflon rings don't want to stay shrunken so I'd rather install the pump into the drum once.
Thanks for your help.
I'm just building a transmission for my z28 to put it back to stock. I never drive it anymore and want to take the FTI converter out of it and put it in my s10 also.
