2005 4l60e interchangable with 1999???
The Electronics are compatabe from 1996 to 2007 with your 2005 truck
However cases changed
DIRECT BOLT IN YEARS ARE 2000 UP 4X4 WITH YOUR TRUCK IF IT WAS BEHIND A 4.8, 5.3, 6,0 LITER (5.7 WAS ONLY AN LS IN F-BODIES AND THE GTO IN 2004 AND NOT 4X4) NO OTHER. EASY IDENTIFY TOP CENTER BELLHOUSING BOLT. The 5.7 in a truck was always vortech LT TYPE and not a direct swap .
2009 up have a blue plug and are not compatable electronically.
Prior years with bolt in bell can be adapted but IMO not worth the trouble. Of course IMO a used 4L60E is never worth the trouble. Unless you get lucky and find a real low milage oddity or a recently properly rebuilt unit. You IMO may as well burn the money instead. Or just send it to me ill make good use of it. Either way it is more likely than not ,You will in the end still not have a reliable working truck with a USED 4L60E, They are just TOO OLD at this point.
HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL.
My educated assumption is that the OP originally had a Transmission with the ISS partially or fully implemented...
When installing a 1999 4L60E of matching Engine Family and matching propulsion...
The 1999 Unit would still differ via the Case Connector and internal wiring/ Electronics.

However the 2005 OP VEHICLE can use the 2007 and 2008 as it would have no wiring and would not know the ISS is there.
Other changes electrically was I think 2003 they changed the plug style on the EPC from blade style which had been problematic for years with getting loose to a plug n pin style. But no test I have ever done have shown any functional difference the remainder of the electronics remained the same. (The two style EPC / PCS even responded the same in the air based test device I made with a pulsed width RC motor control for air flow) < trying to make a way to check calibration as have had a few new ones that were well wrong sadly. Easily corrected in vehicle by swapping it but would rather customer not have to deal with that.
I did not however include the 98 99 300mm ls units as he stated he had a 4x4 and the only LS I am aware of in the was the 5.7l used in the FBODY cars, The 5.7 in trucks was still the vortec-LT1 small block chevy and used the 298 shaft (These to can be used with converter pilot extention but did not want to get into that. )
So My answer was for what would be plug n play for the OP 2000 through 2008 from behind the 4.8 - 5.3 - 6.0 since it is also a 4x4 which means he cannot use the F-BODY units without changing the tail shaft .
So Summation to OP 2000 to 2008 (Complete unit not for parts interchange) 4x4 units from a truck with the 4.8 - 5.3 - 6.0 as direct plug n play swaps. (Also note at some point I am not sure when the 4.3 also swapped to the 300mm shaft . I did not mention these as I am not sure what year that was done and have only seen a couple ever.)
