tranny spontaneously fixes itself?????

tranny spontaneously fixes itself????? about 2 weeks after my A4 got a heavy duty rebuild (with a Transgo) it suddenly freaked out...no matter what gear i started out in, it started in that gear--bypassing any gear under it
in other words....if i started in 2nd it started, and stayed in 2nd....if i started in 3rd it started, and stayed in 3rd......ditto for 4th
i made an appt. to go back to the shop for a week later, but two days before the appt. it suddenly started working right again......and it's stayed working right for over two weeks now
what kinda problem would suddenly start, then suddenly stop like that?
any clues?
and do you think i'm safe in just waiting until it happens again before taking it back to the shop? (the guy said the problem had to be evident for him to track it down)
