C6 corvette 6L80 converter

C6 corvette 6L80 converter Looking to pick up a LS3 A6 corvette and wondered if they respond to a converter the same as my old 99Z28. I had a Yank SS3600 in it (with 3.73 gears) and loved it.
Just wondering with the change to 6 speeds and the lower rear gear (either 2.54 or 2.73) does that affect things much? Car will be getting full exhaust done and would like to do a converter too. will probably end up with a small cam (230 @.050 ish) down the road so would need to get a converter that will work with stock cam also.
