4L80e valve body mismatch?

Hi guys,

I'm putting together a 4L80e I bought a few years ago, which had been slapped together incomplete.

Working with the number on the casing, I determined this was an 03 case. Can anyone please double-check that for me? PN: 24208421

It came with valve body PN: 8684212, which was trashed and appeared to be the wrong one for this casing (pre-96? please confirm?)

I bought a new valve body for an 03, with PN: 24204267. I assumed this was the correct one to suit my case, but now I'm unsure.

I've noticed on the corner of the valve body, there is a bit of gasket and a bit of spacer plate sticking out.

But on the older model valve body, this area would be covered.

What do I do? Will this valve body work on this case?

I also only have the longer trans lube tube which I assume I'd need to replace with the shorter one (and corresponding bracket).

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

It's normal for the plate to stick out like that.

It's much easier to ID the year by looking at the case rather than the numbers.

More important is any parts inside from a 96 and older swapped into a 97 up case.
