Are you checking fluid with car running or not? 1 gallon of fluid on a fresh build is not enough for sure.

Most 4L60e rebuilds take at least 10 qts of fluid. Was the torque converter tight against the flex plate after you bolted the trans to the engine or did you have to slide the torque converter forward out of the pump to meet the flex plate

uh oh........ Hope the convertor was in the pump all the way. You should of had to pull converter to flexplate about a 1/4" or so, did converter spin free after trans was bolted to engine?

Op, feel free to elaborate on your answers a little more instead of 4 word responses.

SRT8.Acelleration's post is a good possibility.

- 1 gallon = 4 quarts. If that's all you added you are way low.
- Are you checking the level with the vehicle running?
- If the converter was not seated it is possible you cracked the pump when tightening the bell housing to block.
- hook up a pressure gauge and see what you have. If no pressure you probably cracked the pump. But get the proper amount of fluid in there

I jacked the car up and was able to spin the wheels and the transmission was supposed to be in park

Get the fluid level correct.

possibly shift linkage or forgot to connect the manual shift valve

Even if you didn't connect the manual valve...if the linkage is in park...it should be in park

The park actuator is separate from the manual valve.

O.P. these are some really basic things you need to check. Make sure it has fluid. Make sure the pump isn't broken. Make sure the shift linkage is attached and adjusted.

If you can gaurantee those three things, come on back and post issues

If the dip stick is reading full with 4 qts of fluid and the engine is running there is no point in trying to add more fluid, the pump is broken. You can check the fluid level on the dip stick with the engine off and then check it again with the engine running. If the fluid level didn't go down from the level with the engine off then the pump is not working. OP please tell us how you are checking the fluid level.

Have any mechanics in your area that you know personally.... I'd start calling and getting someone over there to look at it, if the pump isn't being driven by the converter then the fluid is just going to sit in the pan and you are going to overfill it.. You need someone with transmission knowledge to look at it.

That's a bad sign. Possibly bad insertion of torque converter leading to busted pump?
