Default 6l80e Hi stall converter issues

Hi ,
i purchased a new hi stall torque converter from a large manufacturer of torque converters. It was a 2.week turn around to have it made to suit my car.....stall was 3000rpm.

i had it installed at the local workshop.

ever since that hi stall converter went in, i have had slippage and funny noises coming from the torque converter when its in drive but not when in neutral.

it also seems to rev high but not move for as much as what it is for how high the revs are going.

it seems to be more like 4200rpm and not 3000rpm. The wheels will not spin or move till 4200rpm! Before they lit up easily.

if you go full throttle , it hits the limiter repeatedly and doesnt want to change gear so u have to back off and let it change gear - then the wheels quickly lock up for a second.

what do u think the problem is???

trans fucked?
**** converter? Not seated properly?

Sounds like you need to have them restall it, and its likely that you need to have the transmission tuned.

If the car don't move until you get to 4200, that's a pretty loose converter.

I run a Circle D 4C triple disk and while it will stall over 3800 at WOT, it will get moving from a light by 2xxx RPMs.

I had a really loose converter in my 2010 a few years ago, was like yours. Too loose for a daily car.

Ok i took the car into the transmission specialist and it turns out that the converter is fine and that the problem was simply that there was very little trans fluid in the tranny.

filled it up, changed filter and gaskets and its all sweet now.

sucks with these that they have no dipstick to check and that the leveler is in the pan!
