4l60e shifting issues

4l60e shifting issues just recently my 60e started shifting funny. i only have manual 1st, manual 2nd. i have no d4 or d3 from a dead stop take off. However if i am already moving in 2nd gear at about 25mph and shift it into 3rd it will slip into gear and hold for a small time before it makes a thump and loses gear again.
any help on what it could be?

Forward sprag sounds correct. If you are in manual 1 or 2, the overrun clutches are applied and will take the load of the sprag.
Once moving in 2nd if you shift into 3rd (D3) then it will leave the overrun clutches applied (these are 2 VERY small clutch plates so they might try to grab then slip)
