low/reverse piston wear?? 60e

Hey all....what would cause the wear on the piston pic'd below (there's a little chip hanging off the worn area). Goes all the way around the piston. I have another piston I can use.

This happens when you burn up or wear out the clutches here. The apply piston travels too far, and hits the ring gear. That is most likely what happened here. Piston is ok, just clean the flashing off.
