Default 4L80E pump gears: measured clearance?

Gents,

My repair manual for the 4L80e instructs to measure the pump gear clearance to make sure the pump is "in good shape" but doesn't provide reference numbers for what is good. It had a picture like the below showing .003 on the gage. Mine measures a snug .004. ATSG doesn't reference it at all, only the flatness across the pump face and gears. Is .004 in spec?

If there is wear on the O.D of the gear or the pump pocket....You will see it. Inspect the tips of the Drive Gear Teeth & the Inside of the "Crescent" in the pocket very closely for wear.

Hi . My pump as some wear on the side of the gear but the the teeth are good . The crescent as a bit of wear. I have 0.0050" on the od.
I have bought a new gear set and it fit tight 0.0015" od... is it too tight? Heat expension?
