Default B/M deep pan w/ stock filter?

Hey folks...got me one of these pans https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...placementparts and I'm wondering if the stock GM deep pan filter will work. B/M included a filter extension but I'd just as soon avoid a second connection between the filter and pump.

I have a '95 GMC Sierra w/ the 4l60e.

Thanks for any help. Jake

What's the measurements on the filter extension?

The point of the filter extension is multi-faceted.
1. Places the filter at the bottom of the pan...helps keep the filter covered in oil regardless of how hard you launch/corner
2. With the filter at the bottom, the pan supports the filter so it doesn't hang and fall out of the pump...if it's not supported, it will likely fall and the pump will suck air.
3. I agree with eliminating the extra opportunities for leaks...but if the truck filter won't be placed at the bottom of the pan like it would be in a stock app...you need the filter extension
