Default TH350 and E Rod LS3

Hi and Merry Xmas!

I’m considering swapping the Pontiac 400 in my 1977 Trans Am with an LS3 E Rod (I’m in CA). I have a TH350 that recently was rebuilt to handle up to 500lbs of torque along with upgraded axles and a new Eaton truetrac differential.

Hence I’d prefer to retain the tranny given my investment in it, assuming it makes sense to do so.

What do I need to integrate the TH350
with the LS3? I believe this flexplate adapter is required but I was curious about how I manage the throttle?

http://www.advanceadapters.com/produ...flexplate-kit/

Thanks

Manage the throttle? I'm not sure I follow.

Yes, that adapter will work...but it's double the price of what It should be and half the quality (I don't like that style of pilot adapter)

Thanks! Any particular adapter you recommend?

Anything else required beyond the adapter to get one of these old trannys to function with the LS3?

Specifically I’m concerned about what to do with the kickdown cable and also how to avoid the need to manually shift down to pass. Do I need to switch the throttle body to a manual one?

From my research on this site I’ve seen these items come up but I haven’t seen a clear solution.

thanks

I prefer the bolt on crank pilot adapter rather than the slip on. But the slip ons work for alot of guys.

As for the kickdown cable...you're either going to need to be a fabricator and make your own assembly that mounts to the DBW throttle pedal (other guys have already done this and there is info out there...but No kits that I know of)...or swap to cable throttle and use something like the bowtie overdrives kit.

Thanks again! Any challenges or concerns with programming / tuning when switching to drive by cable? I’m a bit hesitant to mess with the eRod’s setup given that it’s meant to pass smog.

I'm not familiar with the E rod setup.
Depending on what ecu combination you have...it may not even be possible to swap to Drive by cable.

You need IAC drivers in the ecu for starters...then you would need to segment swap, and swap wiring also. It's more than just bolting on a Throttle body and fixing up a cable
