Default 4l60e tcc apply valve in pump

Ok last question hopefully.

97 single piece 4l60e

I have disassembled pump and there is a small air leak on the tcc apply valve in the pump. I understand there's a repair kit to fix that and will purchase it.

I am just wondering if someone could briefly explain to an amateur like me what the tcc apply valve in the pump does, and what a small leak here can cause?

is it similar to the common tcc valve in the valve body that frequently causes 1870 code?

It will ultimately bleed off Torque converter clutch apply oil. Depending on which land of the valve the leaks is at...it will either leak into the cooler circuit...or into the "release" circuit...which is vented when the TCC solenoid is on.

This can wear out the lockup clutch quickly, cause no lockup, lost lockup when hot, etc
