personally id skip the shift kit. I’m a firm believer in Don’t fix what ain’t broke. If you go messing with shift timing then it causes premature clutch failure. Ever wonder why a factory trans lasts 100k+ miles and a rebuilt unit with a shift kit lasts about 45k Miles. That’s because the shift kit slowly kills it. I drill the plate to let more fluid flow and improve upon the internal leaks, put improved clutch packs and hard parts in. Keep it simple.

Huh? My tranny has 167k on it and has been stalled and shift kitted for 125k. Dragstrip passes too numerous to count, daily driving short trips around town, and the unit has never hiccupped.

My installer followed all of Dana's instructions to the letter and the result has been satisfying performance year after year.

well that’s a first. That’s definitely not typical. And I’m referring to the 4l60, the 4l80 seems to do good withba kit. I’ve had to reverse shift kits in numerous units when they didn’t last from other builders. Just my experience. I’ve only built 60 or so of them.

I'll keep y'all posted on the tranny when I take it apart... Might be ordering that kit beginning of the month so... We'll see. Thanks for the recommendations and "heads up" on who's who around here
