6l80e Question, Can you use a powerglide shifter for a gen v zl1 and get the wiring harness to move switch to control paddles? I've seen a couple of people try and succeed but it was with a 4 speed shifter

Than yes! Many manual valve-body transmissions are up-shifted via pneumatic or electric actuator against the gear selector from a button or paddle.
I have set up many gear selectors configurations of such nature for beginner Funny Car and nostalgia Altered vehicles that bracket race in the 8s, 7s and 6s. No Comp or Pro vehicles...
For Pros; the closest THING to an automatic transmission they use is a Lenco-Drive. Mostly you will sea a lenco (3-speed mostly) or NO transmission (direct drive) in the fastest vehicles.
