Default 4l80e pump seal leaking

This look like pump seal is leaking? 4l80e, been leaking since I put trans in. Thought it was pan gasket. But new OEM gasket and permartex sealer. Pump looks wet. And front of trans is wet.

first pic is between TC and pump. Looks wet. Tried to get my hand up there but didnt get far. It is trans fluid tho.

second pic its wet from pan seal and down. Drips off shift linkage bracket.

Could be the seal. Depending on what it's in you could easily drop it out and just replace the seal. Thats what I would do thinking of my '92 dually, big and a ton of room.

But someone on here will tell you to take the pump out and enlarge the drain hole and replace the gasket and pump o-ring. Not a bad idea. There was a thread not long ago where a person tried this and had a lot of trouble. If I remember correctly messed up the pump gear and ordered a new one and still had a hard time getting it back together.

And you also might as well do a full rebuild while it's out lol.

Seriously, drop it down, replace the seal, spray everything down with brake cleaner and put it back. It's a $6 to $8 part at the most and maybe a half a day. I'd clean the seal OD and seal pocket real good and put a thin coat of red loctite on the od of the seal and some grease or oil on the ID.

Yeah it wont be bad to do. I just had it down 2 weeks ago to replace rear main so I'll drop it again this weekend and see.

Looks like another 4L80E is going to need a new gear selector shaft soon too!

I've got 2 on the shelf. Switching it out while I'm doing seal and converter.
