Default Looking for input on trans/converter

Hello, all. In the process of building a 5.3 swap SN95 (turbo build, SBE 5.3 something like a s475 for turbo, 2900 race weight, 3.55 gears) Looking into a turbo 400, summitracing.com has some nice options from several different companies. I like the FTI level 3, but open to ideas. As for a converter I'm looking for ideas. Not necessarily on what stall or whatever but more so brands. Brands you have had good luck with, good performance, good customer service. Lots of options out there. Not necessarily looking for the Taj Ma Hal of converters but also don't want the summit brand junk either. Always been a manual guy so I've never had to deal with this kind of thing. Thanks for any input.

If I recall correctly... FTI is both a supporter of our community and a sponsor for the last 10+ years.
Hopefully, one of the guys there will chime in here to post a response to you.

I'm sure you would be just fine going that route.

I am also assuming you would prefer to purchase a complete unit and not build yourself...?

Otherwise I may be able to recommend a Transmission Builder (For THM400 units) in your area... So where about are you located?
Many people prefer to have a local builder for service and support; especially when it comes time for off-season refresh or upgrades.

If you are in the NYC area... Let me Know ;-)

If you're looking into FTI you can have them do your trans and converter in 1 shot. Very high quality and excellent customer service based on what I've heard over the years. If you're open to other options, PTC makes a great converter and can easily spec something for you based on what you outlined. They were great to deal with and I have one of their units in my car (60e not th400)

Thanks for the all the kind words gentlemen! @V8EATR I would recommend going with one of our converters for the simple fact you've got a package deal all from one manufacturer so you know everything fits. I can also help you with some of the other parts you'll need for the swap including cross member, drive shaft, flexplate, cooler, and so on.

let me know if you have any questions.
