Has anyone done this? I'm not sure the geometry will work right or not and there isn't a bracket for this made or a place on the tb to put the TV cable. I made my own bracket but having trouble deciding how to attach the cable end to the tb and if it will work correctly. Here is the bracket I made And I'm trying to hook the cable to the throttle body so the 700r4 will work correctly
Ps, please please please do not suggest a different trans. I'm looking for info on this setup. Not suggestions on a better setup. Let me make my own mistakes like a real man. Thank you!
Follow the standard rule of thumb for the TV pull. Use a Holley TV button as a guide part # 20-40. using the lower opening in the TB arm for starters. the TB arm is set up for a different style cable end. look at earlier cruise cables for the view of the end.
with the pan off the throttle body arm must pull the cable plunger all the way to it's stop at full throttle.
AKA F/T at TB is F/T at transmission plunger
With the TB at idle the TV lever should be touching the plunger or have it slightly pushed in.
the geometry of that is all fab work to you...

There is VERY specific geometry for a TV cable to properly control pressure. The TV cable isn't just for shift points...it sets the line pressure and makes sure the trans doesn't burn up.
"perfect" geometry is having the mounting ball at 1.109" (+/- .015) radius from the centerline of the throttle shaft. The pull needs to be level. and the total travel is intended to be 78 degrees from full closed to WOT.
Personally, I set up almost all of my 700r4's with constant line pressure. That way the TV cable adjustment becomes irrelevant for pressure, ensuring that a customer that can't comprehend something simple like TV adjustment doesn't end up smoking the trans I just built them...then trying to turn around and blame me.
With constant pressure mod, the TV cable is now ONLY used for shift points.

Maroon MonsterLS1 you are a transmission guru. It is very nice that you share your knowledge for free. You are also 100% correct in the specifications you gave. The specifications also lead to an end result.
Neither one of us is more correct or less correct than the other. We just are showing him what needs to be done as an end result.
How many ways can you get two numbers to equal 9?
He stated he wanted to make his own mistakes like a real man.
So I laid out the end results required, what steps he chooses to get the end result is on him as he stated.
I don't like customer s blaming me for the mistake on a TV cable set up either. In my 38 years of bench building transmissions I've found that giving the end result makes easier for the novice to understand. I don't think he is going to blame either of us.
Please share more information on the constant pressure modification
