Default Can anybody identify this extra snap ring

It appears I am somehow left with an extra reverse input snap ring. Can anybody tell if this snap
ring could go anywhere else? They are absolutely identical in every way as seen in the photos when they are stacked on top of each other. I have no idea where it came from. Both even have identical wear marks. Anybody? Thanks

They look like they could be for the 3-4 drum??

The 3-4 drum has two large snap rings like that, if i'm not mistaken. You'l have to go through the ATSG looking at the diamater and locations of each snapring to see what goes where. You should ideally not mix them up when you doing the tear down/rebuild.

Thank you, the input drum and reverse input drum are all accounted for and in. The 3-4 clutch ring has one end that is not square cut, and the fwd clutches use a thicker, slightly small diameter ring than this left over one. Almost seems like there was an extra reverse input ring in there somehow stacked on top but the groove is not deep enough to hold 2 rings. I’m baffled

I agree with PBA, it's a reverse input bum snap ring. Couldn't find my input drum retainer spring washer for the first design spring retainer. it came back in one of the other builders CB. he borrowed it and forgot to take it out before assembly of the transmission. I still don't understand how it stayed in place while he assemble that transmission the first time!!!
