Default 4l80e po1810

Ok, im having trouble with my 4l80e. Heres some backround, 1971 skylark , 2005 vortec 4.8 connected to 1996 4l80e and a 2800 stall converter, still has 2.56 gears in it.. The 4.8 came from a express van that had a 4l80e. Just finished the swap in the last month only making small local trips. worked fine. Took it out saturday and after about 30 min it made a little whine sound, pulled over chevked fluid , looked ok. 5 minutes later going up a little hill smoke starts pouring out. Trans fluid came out the dipstick and landed on the header causing a brief fire. None of the trans wires got burnt. I let i cool down and got some trans fluid in it. drove it home and now it has the dreaded po1810 code. my game plan is to pull the pan change the manifold pressure switch and temp sensor. i will also double check my pull out on the converter. Could the fact that the newer computer is controlling the old style trans be a factor? Also, I dont have the gear selector switch installed but I dint think it needed it and the correct gear is showing up on hptunners. Any help would be appreciated, let me know if i left out important info.

With wires burnt its more likely an external wiring issue than the switch, IMO

If you are using the computer out of the 05 van it shouldn't be an issue. 4l80Es are all basically the same. Do you have an aftermarket dipstick? It sounds like the fluid may not have been the correct level.

Thanks for getting back to me guys. The fire only took out the o2 sensor wire, nothing on the trans. The dipstick was the stock one. Looking back at the log im seeing the trans temp went to 216. dam it was hot. Im hoping I didn't ruin the trans. Its running a separate cooler so im not sure why its getting so hot. Should I move my shift points up higher? Does the trans think its slipping because of the stall converter and the high rearend gears?(2.56) Are the gears preventing the trans from reaching its stall speed, I would think this might create a lot of heat. Thanks again guys.

Ok little update. I replaced the dipstick, internal plug and the pressure switch.New fluid and filter . I raised the shift speeds so it stays in first till about 28mph. It feels really good, seems to shift perfect but my trans temp is still climbing to 190, seems a little high. I am wondering if the cooler lines are too close to the headers . I am going to post over on the hptuners website too , maybe something is wrong with my tune. Here is one of the last logs if anyone wants to take a look.
