Yeah I guess I hadn't really thought about it that way. Maybe I'll just buy a rebuilt one from Jake and put this 5 gear back up on ebay. For what I have into it better safe than sorry.

I'm not saying that planet is going to blow up on you.
I was just putting to bed this ridiculous idea that the OEM 5 pinions are worlds stronger than the 4 pinions. That's BS.
It's BS in the 60...it's BS in the 80...it's just BS
You can use that planet and it will likely be JUST fine for ya

What combo are you going with to make 1K HP? What pickup is it going in? Just curious, I have an 09 Silverado RCSB, 6.0, turbo, 4L80E, Yank triple billet, 3:70, 9". Hopefully will be road worthy again soon.

I'm working on the valve body part of the rebuild right now and the transmissionbench.com guide recommends installing a repair kit for the actuator feed limit valve because it has a reputation of wearing out the bore. Is that something you guys usually do too or is that nonsense?

Yes.

I find the AFL valve-train/ bore worn out frequently.

Ok thanks, appreciate the second opinion on that. I'm going to order the repair kit and do the fix. It comes with stuff for like 5 or 6 repairs I guess so if anyone wants to buy the extra stuff from me I won't need it.

if you're friendly with a local tranny shop...they will almost certainly have an AFL bore repair. Toss em a $20 and give them some good local word of mouth. They should do it for ya
